Dear Seeker,
There is a form of magic so simple, so personal, and so quietly powerful that it requires nothing but a pen, a piece of paper, and your own intention.
Sigil magic.
A sigil is a symbol you create yourself — drawn from the letters of your intention, charged with your energy, and released into the world to do its work. It is one of the oldest forms of magic, and one of the most accessible. You don’t need a full altar, a collection of herbs, or years of practice. You need only the desire to begin.
What is a Sigil?
The word sigil comes from the Latin sigillum — meaning seal or sign. Historically sigils were used in ceremonial magic as symbols representing spirits or divine forces. In modern witchcraft the sigil has evolved into something more personal and democratic — a symbol you create yourself, encoding your own intention into a unique mark that belongs to you alone.
No two sigils are identical. Yours will be yours.
What Can You Use a Sigil For?
Sigils can be created for almost any intention:
✦ Attracting abundance or opportunity
✦ Protection of your home or energy
✦ Clarity and focus during difficult decisions
✦ Confidence before a challenging situation
✦ Love, healing, creativity, peace
The key is that your intention should be specific, positive, and present tense — written as if it is already true.

How to Create Your Sigil — Step by Step
Step 1 — Write your intention
Write a clear, positive statement of what you wish to call in. For example:
“I am abundant and financially free”
“My home is protected and at peace”
“I move through this day with clarity and confidence”
Step 2 — Remove the vowels
Cross out all the vowels from your statement. Using our first example:
“I am abundant and financially free”
becomes: M B N D N T N D F N N C L L Y F R
Step 3 — Remove duplicate letters
Cross out any repeated letters so each letter appears only once:
M B N D T F C L Y R
Step 4 — Create your symbol
Now comes the magical part. Using the remaining letters, begin combining, overlapping, and connecting them into a single abstract symbol. Rotate letters, mirror them, stack them, curve them. There is no right or wrong — you are drawing until something feels complete.
Trust your instincts here. When the symbol feels done, it is done.
Step 5 — Charge your sigil
A sigil needs your energy to activate it. Hold the paper in both hands and focus on your intention — not on the symbol itself, but on the feeling of your intention already being true. Feel it as real. Pour that energy into the mark you’ve made.
You can also charge your sigil by:
✦ Holding it over a candle flame briefly (carefully!)
✦ Placing it under a crystal overnight
✦ Setting it on your selenite charging plate under the full moon
✦ Simply meditating with it held to your heart
Step 6 — Release and forget
This is the most important and most counterintuitive step. Once your sigil is charged, let it go. Don’t fixate on it. Don’t check on it. Burn it, bury it, or tuck it away somewhere you won’t see it daily.
Sigil magic works through the subconscious — the moment you stop consciously thinking about it is the moment it begins to work.
A Few Notes from Willow
✦ There is no wrong sigil. If it felt right when you drew it, it is right.
✦ Keep it simple at first. A clear two or three word intention makes for a cleaner sigil than a paragraph.
✦ You can redraw it. If your first attempt doesn’t feel right, start again. The process itself is part of the magic.
✦ Digital sigils work too. Some modern witches create sigils digitally and use them as phone wallpapers or computer screensavers. The intention is the same.
So mote it be, Seeker. Onward.
With love and golden light,
Willow Your Guide, Prince and Potter
