Dear Seeker,
Sometimes you carry things that aren’t yours to carry.
A difficult conversation that lingers for days. A heaviness you can’t quite name. The feeling of walking into a room and absorbing its tension without meaning to. Energy, like dust, can settle on us without our noticing — and just like dust, it needs to be cleared.
The egg cleansing ritual — known in Latin American traditions as the Limpia — is one of the oldest and most powerful energetic cleansing practices in the world. It is simple, accessible, and remarkably effective. And all you need is one egg.
What is an Egg Cleansing?
An egg cleansing is a ritual in which a raw egg is passed over the body to absorb negative, stagnant, or unwanted energy. The egg acts as a vessel — drawing out what doesn’t belong and holding it safely away from you.
The practice has roots in Mesoamerican healing traditions, particularly in Mexican folk magic and curanderismo, where the limpia has been used for centuries to cleanse the body, mind, and spirit. Today it is practiced across cultures and traditions worldwide, embraced by witches, healers, and spiritual seekers of all backgrounds.
When Should You Do an Egg Cleansing?
✦ When you feel energetically heavy or depleted
✦ After a difficult conversation, argument, or upsetting event
✦ When you’ve been in a crowded or emotionally charged environment
✦ If you feel like something is “off” but can’t identify what
✦ As a regular monthly or seasonal cleansing practice
✦ After illness, grief, or a period of intense stress
✦ When you feel stuck or blocked in some area of your life
What You’ll Need
✦ One fresh raw egg — room temperature
✦ A glass of water (clear glass preferred)
✦ A quiet space where you won’t be interrupted
✦ Optional: a white candle, a pinch of salt, a prayer or intention

The Ritual — Step by Step
Before you begin, set your intention. Light your white candle if you have one. Take three slow breaths and say aloud or in your heart:
“I release what is not mine. I cleanse what has settled. I return to my own clear energy.”
Step 1 — Hold the egg
Hold the egg in your dominant hand. Feel its weight — cool, smooth, whole. Set your intention into it: this egg will absorb whatever needs to leave.
Step 2 — Begin at the crown
Starting at the top of your head, begin moving the egg slowly downward over your body. You can make circular motions, sweeping motions, or simply pass it slowly from head to toe. Work over your face, down your neck, across your shoulders and chest, down your arms, your torso, your legs, your feet.
Pay special attention to areas where you feel tension, heaviness, or discomfort — spend a little extra time there.
Step 3 — Speak as you work
As you move the egg, speak your intention. You might say:
“Take what is heavy. Take what is not mine. Take what blocks me. I am clear. I am cleansed. I am free.”
Or simply move in silence, focusing on the feeling of release with each pass.
Step 4 — Break the egg into water
When you feel complete, crack the egg into the glass of water. Do this gently and with intention.
Step 5 — Read the egg
Now look at what the egg has revealed. The patterns formed by the egg in water are said to reflect the energy that was absorbed. Here’s a simple guide:
✦ Clear yolk, no bubbles — your energy was relatively clear. A light cleansing was all you needed.
✦ Bubbles around the yolk — stress and anxiety were present. The egg absorbed worry and mental tension.
✦ Cloudy or murky white — heavier energy was present. You may benefit from repeated cleansings over several days.
✦ Spikes or points rising upward — negative energy directed at you from others, or envy in your environment.
✦ Blood in the egg — a sign to seek medical attention or pay close attention to your physical health.
✦ The yolk sinks — a sign of deep exhaustion. Rest, nourish yourself, and repeat the cleansing.
Step 6 — Dispose of the egg
Do not keep the egg. Flush it down the toilet or dispose of it outside your home — away from your front door. Say a final release:
“What was taken is gone. So mote it be.”
Wash your hands thoroughly with cold water and salt if you have it.
A Few Notes from Willow
✦ Always use a fresh egg — never use one that’s been hard boiled or cracked before the ritual.
✦ Room temperature works best — take your egg out of the fridge an hour before you begin.
✦ You can cleanse others — with their permission, you can perform an egg cleansing on a loved one using the same method.
✦ Repeat as needed — some practitioners do this weekly, others monthly, others only when something feels off. Trust your instincts.
✦ The reading is intuitive — the egg reading is a guide, not a verdict. Trust what you feel when you look at it more than any rulebook.
So mote it be, Seeker. Onward.
With love and golden light,
Willow Your Guide, Prince and Potter
