The candle spell for abundance is not about forcing the universe to hand you something you feel you’ve been denied. It is about clearing the path. Widening the channel. Saying, with genuine and peaceful certainty: I am ready. I am worthy. I am open to receive.

In Eastern magical traditions, the golden dragon is the great bringer of prosperity — ancient, generous, and gloriously abundant. Where the protection dragon guards with fierce and watchful eyes, the golden dragon gives. Gold coins tumble from beneath its scales like treasure spilling from an ancient hoard. Abundance flows in its wake like a river finding the sea. It does not hoard its gifts. It delights in sharing them.
When you light your candle tonight and speak your intention into the flame, know that you are inviting one of the oldest and most generous forces in the magical world to turn its attention toward you.

What You’ll Need
Essential:
- One green or gold candle — green for growth, prosperity, and the steady abundance of nature; gold for solar energy, success, and the golden flow of wealth and opportunity. Either is perfect — or use both if you feel called to.
- A quiet space where you will not be disturbed for 10-20 minutes
- Your intention — a clear, genuine openness to receiving abundance in whatever form serves you best
Optional but powerful:
- Citrine — the merchant’s stone, the ultimate crystal for abundance and manifestation. Warm, sunny, and endlessly generous.
- Pyrite — fool’s gold that brings real wealth. Bold, bright, and magnetically attractive to prosperity.
- Green aventurine — the luckiest crystal in the mineral kingdom. Keep it close during abundance work.
- A few drops of bergamot, cinnamon, or basil essential oil — bergamot for prosperity and success, cinnamon for fast action and warmth, basil for wealth and good fortune
- A small piece of paper and pen — to write what you are calling in
- A fireproof holder for your candle
- A gold coin — if you have one, place it beside your candle as an anchor for the energy. Even a shiny penny will do. 🪙

Before You Begin
Release the energy of lack — this is the most important preparation for abundance magic. Before you light your candle, take a moment to consciously set aside any feelings of desperation, scarcity, or “I need this so badly.” Those energies create resistance, not flow.
Take three deep breaths and with each exhale, breathe out the fear of not having enough. You are not casting this spell from a place of lack. You are casting it from a place of readiness.
Get specific — but stay open — name what you are calling in. More money? A new opportunity? A creative breakthrough? Abundance of time, energy, or joy? The more clearly you name it, the more clearly the universe can deliver it. But add these words at the end: “this or something better, in the highest good of all.” The golden dragon often brings gifts you didn’t know to ask for.
If you are anointing your candle — place a drop of bergamot, cinnamon, or basil oil on your fingertips and draw it along the candle from base to tip (drawing abundance toward you). Feel the warmth of the oil and the warmth of your intention moving together.
The Candle Spell for Abundance
Step 1: Ground and open yourself
Sit comfortably before your unlit candle. Place your hands in your lap, palms facing upward — the gesture of receiving. Take five deep breaths. With each inhale, breathe in possibility. With each exhale, release resistance.
Feel yourself becoming open. Spacious. Ready.
You are not a closed fist. You are open hands. You are a wide river. You are ready to receive everything that is meant for you.
Step 2: Hold your intention
Bring clearly into your mind what you are calling in. See it already present in your life — not as a wish but as a reality arriving. Feel the genuine gratitude of already having it. This is the secret heart of abundance magic: gratitude before the gift.
If you have written your intention on paper, hold it now. Read it quietly. Let it be real and already true.
Step 3: Light the candle
As you light your candle, speak your intention aloud. You can use these words or your own:
“I light this flame as a beacon for abundance. I call upon the golden dragon — ancient bringer of prosperity, generous keeper of infinite treasure — to open the flow of abundance in my life. I am ready. I am worthy. I am open to receive [name what you are calling in], this or something even better, in the highest good of all. So mote it be.”
Step 4: Invite the golden dragon
Gaze softly into the flame and imagine, in the warm golden light just beyond the candle, an immense and glorious dragon. Its scales are pure gold, gleaming like sunlight on water. It is ancient and magnificent and radiantly generous — nothing like the hoarding dragons of legend. This dragon gives.
See the gold coins tumbling softly from beneath its scales, catching the candlelight as they fall. Each one carries the energy of abundance, of flow, of more than enough. See that flow moving toward you — not rushing or desperate, but steady and certain, like a tide coming in.
You do not need to force this. Simply hold your open hands, hold your intention, and allow the golden dragon’s generous energy to fill the space around you.
Stay with the flame for at least five minutes. Notice any feelings of warmth, expansion, or quiet certainty. Those are signs the magic is working.
Step 5: Receive and anchor
When you feel complete, place both hands over your heart and say:
“I receive this abundance with gratitude and grace. The golden dragon has heard my call. The flow is open. What is meant for me is already on its way. I release this intention to the flame and to the infinite generosity of the universe. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”
Three thank yous — one for what is coming, one for what is already here, one for what you cannot yet imagine.
If you wrote your intention on paper, you may burn it in the flame now — releasing it fully. Or fold it beneath your citrine on your altar and let the crystal amplify it as the candle burns.
Step 6: Close the spell
Snuff your candle gently — never blow — and say:
“The flame rests. The golden dragon flies. Abundance flows. It is done. So mote it be.” 🐉✦
After the Spell — Recognizing Abundance Arriving
Abundance magic works in delightful and sometimes unexpected ways. Stay alert for:
- An unexpected opportunity that seems to appear from nowhere
- A sudden idea or creative insight that opens a new path
- Money arriving from an unexpected source
- A conversation that leads somewhere wonderful
- A feeling of expansion and possibility in your daily life
- Synchronicities — the universe winking at you 😉
The golden dragon does not always bring exactly what you asked for. Sometimes it brings something better. Stay open, stay grateful, and trust the flow.
Keep your citrine or pyrite on your altar or in your pocket for the week following the spell — a physical anchor for the abundance energy you’ve called in.
Repeat the spell on three consecutive nights, or at each New Moon, to keep the channel wide and the flow steady. Abundance is not a one-time event. It is a practice. ✦
A Note on Worthiness
I want to say something important before we go any further.
The most common reason abundance magic doesn’t work is not a wrong candle color or an imperfect incantation. It is this: the witch doesn’t truly believe they deserve what they’re asking for.
You deserve abundance. Not because you’ve earned it through suffering or sacrifice or working yourself to exhaustion. Simply because you exist. Because you are here, in this life, doing your best, with an open and seeking heart.
The golden dragon does not evaluate your worthiness before it gives. It gives because giving is its nature. Your only job is to believe you are worthy of receiving.
If that feels difficult — and for many of us it does — try this: before your spell, look in the mirror and say out loud, “I am worthy of abundance.” Say it until it feels at least a little bit true. That small shift is where the real magic begins. ✦
