There are moments on this path when the way forward isn’t clear — when you stand at a crossroads, unsure which step is yours to take. This is when we call on guidance magic: not to hand us the answer, but to help us hear the wisdom we already carry within.
This spell pairs candle magic with a single tarot draw, inviting a wise old dragon to light the way and help you see what your own intuition is trying to tell you.
The Guidance Dragon
Where the clarity dragon illuminates and the protection dragon guards, the guidance dragon watches — ancient, patient, violet-scaled, with eyes like old stars. She doesn’t rush toward you. She circles slowly above, watching the path below, and when you call her, she lowers her great head and shows you, gently, what you already know.
What You’ll Need
✦ A purple or white candle
✦ A tarot or oracle deck (any deck you connect with)
✦ A small dish or cloth to draw your card onto
✦ Optional: amethyst or labradorite, for added intuition
✦ A quiet moment, free of distraction
The Ritual
Find a quiet space and settle in. Light your candle and take three slow breaths, watching the flame steady itself.
Hold your unanswered question in your mind — not anxiously, just honestly. What do I need to see right now?
Speak aloud or in your heart:
“Ancient one, violet-eyed and wise, I call you now beneath these skies. Show me what my heart already knows — light the path where the guidance flows.”
Shuffle your deck slowly, still holding your question. When it feels right, stop, and draw a single card. Place it before your candle without judgment — whatever appears, trust it arrived for a reason.
Sit with the card in the candlelight. Don’t rush to interpret it. Let your first instinct rise before you reach for a guidebook. What does the image make you feel? What is your body’s first response?
When you feel you’ve received what you came for, say:
“By flame and card, by wing and sight, I thank the dragon for her light. So mote it be, Seeker. Onward.”
Let your candle burn safely for a while longer as you journal anything that surfaced, then snuff it with gratitude.
